Shift: Monday - Friday afternoons, approximately 26 hours per week

Job Summary

The YMCA of the Black Hills is seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to join our team in Custer as a Kidstop Site Coordinator for the  school year. This role is essential in delivering a high-quality after school experience for local children— and offers the chance to make a lasting impact every day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of one of our Kidstop sites, creating a welcoming and enriching environment for elementary and middle school students.
  • Implement age‑appropriate curriculum and ensure the emotional and physical safety of all children.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and foster a culture of recognition and growth.
  • Lead the on‑site team, mentor staff, and create a cohesive, motivated environment critical to program success.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to build positive relationships with principals, teachers, and administrative staff, aligning the Kidstop program with educational goals.
  • Communicate with families, keeping parents informed about their child’s experience and progress, cultivating a welcoming, trustworthy connection.
  • Manage lesson plans, maintain safety protocols, oversee equipment and supplies, and ensure accurate record‑keeping for attendance, incidents, and program reports.
  • Attend and contribute to regular meetings with other Site Coordinators and the Youth Development team to stay aligned and share best practices.
Ideal Candidate

This role requires someone proactive, organized, and people‑centered—able to manage the needs of children, staff, and families with professionalism and care. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience or a strong background in youth programming, along with leadership capabilities and a genuine passion for child development.

Qualifications
  • Experience teaching or working with children in an educational or youth program setting.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with school staff, parents, and YMCA members.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.

Must be able to pass a background check.
