- Design life safety and asset protection systems using AutoCAD and proprietary software applications, adhering to local, national, and manufacturer requirements.
- Direct contractors in the proper installation and operation of systems.
- Survey job sites to ensure proper system design and installation.
- Read, review, and implement customer-supplied project specifications.
- Attend manufacturer training classes and other continued education training.
- Create project‑specific operation and maintenance manuals.
- Update existing drawings.
- Assist office staff with engineering‑related tasks such as process improvement.
- Assist with system inspection and maintenance, if needed.
- Assist in system startups and commissioning, if needed.
- Previous experience in the Fire Protection Industry is required.
- Previous experience as a Design Engineer.
- Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD 2D drafting.
- Knowledge and efficient use of 3D design software.
- Understanding of MS Office applications.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information.
- Desire to learn industry standards.
- Willingness to study for and obtain NICET certification.
