Event Staff - Black Hills Railroad; Train

The 1880 Train is South Dakota's premier historic railroad, offering unforgettable scenic excursions through the beautiful Black Hills. Every season, we welcome thousands of guests from around the world, creating lasting memories through exceptional hospitality, rich history, and outstanding customer service.

We're looking for a creative, energetic, and organized individual to join our team as Event Staff. This temporary position plays a key role in bringing our special event trains to life - from decorating the depot and passenger cars to prepping supplies and helping each event run smoothly from first boarding call to final whistle.

• Decorate depots, platforms, and passenger cars for themed event trains
• Prep, organize, and stage event supplies, guest amenities, and food & beverage items
• Assist with event setup before departures and teardown afterward
• Support event execution on board and on the platform, including guest boarding and activities
• Help serve treats and beverages to guests during event trains
• Keep event storage, supplies, and décor organized and inventoried
• Deliver exceptional customer service to every guest
• Represent the 1880 Train with professionalism and enthusiasm
• Follow all company safety procedures and food handling standards

• Friendly, positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for guest service
• Prior event, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience preferred
• Creative eye for decorating and attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow a plan and timeline
• Dependable with a strong work ethic
• Team-oriented mindset and ability to stay calm during busy event days
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb steps, and stand or walk for extended periods
• Food handler certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
