The RoleAs an Inventory Officer, you will be responsible for purchasing and replenishing stock, managing inventory levels, analysing product performance, and working closely with suppliers and branch teams to ensure the right products are available at the right time. You will also contribute to the ongoing growth of the branch by identifying opportunities to improve product ranges, stock turnover, and overall profitability.
Key Responsibilities Inventory Management- Maintain appropriate stock levels of core product lines.
- Purchase stock and customer orders in line with branch requirements.
- Manage slow-moving, excess, and obsolete stock.
- Monitor and follow up customer backorders and supplier deliveries.
- Manage special buy-ins and supplier promotions.
- Establish new bin locations and maintain product accuracy.
- Ensure inventory is replenished efficiently and in line with sales trends and seasonal demand.
- Negotiate pricing and purchasing opportunities with suppliers.
- Utilise preferred suppliers and purchasing agreements.
- Assist in managing supplier relationships and resolving issues.
- Attend supplier meetings, training sessions, and inventory conferences.
- Support showroom presentation and merchandising activities alongside suppliers.
- Generate and analyse inventory and purchasing reports.
- Review stock performance and identify opportunities to improve turnover and profitability.
- Recommend new product ranges based on customer demand and market opportunities.
- Maintain knowledge of local market conditions and product trends.
- Assist with customer enquiries and product availability requests.
- Support branch staff with inventory-related requirements.
- Contribute to increasing sales and improving customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records and system updates.
- Respond to emails and complete administrative tasks in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Promote a positive safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential- Minimum 1 year experience in the Electrical Wholesale industry.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Forklift licence.
- Experience in inventory management, purchasing, or stock control.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to use initiative.
- Year 11 certificate or higher.
