Lakota Youth Development Media Specialist

Role details for Ameri Corps VISTA with Lakota Youth Development. This position focuses on graphic design and content creation to share the LYD story and increase local and national reach.

Lakota Youth Development is a 28-year-old native nonprofit. Our mission is to help Lakota youth rise through Wolakota. We offer experiential, evidence-based cultural camps and retreats, leadership societies, after school programs, and youth-led social enterprises that include local and international apprenticeships. Our primary focus is to help Lakota youth reclaim their language, culture, and spirituality. Culture is prevention to addictions and unhealthy, life-threatening activities that are so pervasive.

We use a multigenerational, strengths-based approach providing a sacred, safe space at our 10-acre camp. We help youth identify and test their strengths and passions to become successful adults.

• Utilize graphic design to share the LYD story with the goal of increasing reach locally and nationally.
• Develop, implement, and revise processes related to content creation and sharing on social media (e.g., posters and table tents).
• Expand organizational capacity through the development, implementation and revision of effective processes related to content creation and sharing on social media to raise the profile of the organization locally, regionally and nationally which will give access to funding opportunities to ensure sustainability of programming.
