Registered Nurse - Long Term Care (Night Shift)
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our long-term care team on the night shift. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to elderly residents in a skilled nursing facility, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being during overnight hours while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct nursing care to long-term care residents including medication administration, wound care, catheter care, and monitoring of chronic conditions
Conduct comprehensive assessments and document changes in resident conditions, reporting significant findings to physicians and day shift staff
Respond to medical emergencies, falls, and acute changes in resident status with appropriate interventions
Administer medications according to physician orders and facility protocols, including PRN medications and pain management
Perform skilled nursing procedures such as tube feedings, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management as needed
Maintain accurate electronic health records and complete required documentation per regulatory standards
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, and social workers
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations including CMS guidelines and facility policies
Provide emotional support and advocacy for residents and their families
Participate in care plan meetings and quality assurance activities
Mentor and provide guidance to nursing staff and new employees
Required QualificationsCurrent RN license in state of practice
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (long-term care or geriatric experience preferred)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Computer proficiency with electronic health records
Preferred QualificationsLong-term care or skilled nursing facility experience
Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods during 12-hour shifts
Lift up to 50 pounds with proper body mechanics
Visual acuity to assess residents and read documentation
