Job SummaryAssists with the planning and evaluation of hemodialysis services and provides nursing care for dialysis patients in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, licensure, and scope of practice. Delivers hemodialysis services to chronic outpatients and will provide treatment to inpatients and acute patients as needed.
Position SummaryFull‑time (32 hours per week). Wage: $32.00–$49.46 per hour.
Responsibilities- Facilitates the coordination and integration of interdepartmental care and services for dialysis patients.
- Assists with the training of new staff members.
- Participates in the department’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program, ensuring staff participation and identifying opportunities to improve patient outcomes through daily, weekly, and monthly audits.
- Assists with ensuring the department complies with regulatory agency requirements.
- Utilizes the nursing process for care documentation, identifying unusual conditions, and exercising initiative judgment.
- Initiates a patient education plan based on individualized needs, as prescribed by the Nephrology team and/or hospital policy.
- Observes, assesses patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisors of patient condition, drug reactions, treatments, and incidents throughout care progression.
- Operates and monitors the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water system.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and scope of practice.
- Receives, transcribes, and communicates physician orders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s in nursing or Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school in an approved accredited Registered Nurse program. Minimum of one‑year experience in a medical/surgical unit is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsHolds or is eligible for current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in South Dakota and may be required to apply for a Minnesota RN license.

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to use the nursing process and regulatory guidelines for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating patient care; competence in all technical nursing skills within licensure scope; ability to deal tactfully with hospital personnel, patients, families, physicians, and the general public.
