• Prepare the operating room (OR) and all equipment for each shift.
• Gather supplies and keep the OR sterile and safe for patients.
• Assist with pre‑operative patient assessment, site marking, and documentation.
• Collaborate with the anesthesia team, surgical technologists, and physicians to maintain a sterile field and support patient care during induction, procedure, and emergence.
• Ensure proper patient positioning and adherence to surgical protocols.
• Document nursing care accurately, including charges, implants, tissue tracking, and counts.
• Communicate any patient‑care, safety, or scheduling concerns to the OR board runner and other team members.
• Participate in verbal debriefings at the end of each procedure.
• Coordinate recovery cart placement and postoperative bed selection prior to leaving the OR.
• Restock supplies, clean the OR, and troubleshoot turnover between cases.
• Adhere to OSHA and blood‑borne pathogen safety standards.
• Liaise with management as needed and complete incident and Midas Edge reports.
• Participate in assigned committees and ongoing quality improvement activities.

• Graduate of an accredited college or university.
• Registered Professional Nurse with current state licensure.
• BLS certification required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Pass the AORN Perioperative 101 course during the mentorship program if no prior experience; OR experience preferred.
• Team player with ability to function in a high‑stress environment.
• Organized, adaptable, and positive attitude.

• Lift patients up to 75 pounds and exert at least 50 pounds of force for patient transport.
• Stand, bend, stoop, and sit in a confined area for prolonged periods.
• Talk and hear regularly while performing duties.
• Frequent repetitive hand/wrist motion.
• Work in a clean, well‑lighted area and accept exposure to communicable diseases, radiation, and other hazards.
