Job Summary: The Senior Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as an experienced caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long‑term care, demonstrating expert level experience as a certified nursing assistant and assisting other staff as needed.

Provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Knowledge of and delivery of age‑appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident is required, as is adherence to infection prevention and control policies and proper use of personal protective equipment.

The NA often supports other clinical staff and assumes own responsibilities, leading problem‑solving and maintaining high accountability. Assistance is provided with basic health‑care needs, including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, recording vital signs, psychosocial support, and personal care of assigned residents.

Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment, while providing range‑of‑motion and passive exercises. Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience, and assist residents with meals and snacks, providing water and supplements as appropriate.

Support providers and nursing staff with procedures, document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary. Communicate resident’s changing condition and care‑related concerns to the charge nurse, collect non‑invasive body fluid specimens, and gather vital signs. Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with maintaining clean living areas.

Assist with wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation. May participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces as needed. May be responsible for completing tasks related to the Restorative Nursing program, including documentation, scheduling, and leading restorative programs.
