Job Description Summary

PENN DENTAL MEDICINE seeks a skilled laboratory technician to assist senior level researchers on various supervised research projects within the lab; including, but not limited to: lab preparation, data collection, animal husbandry, and lab supply inventory management.

Job Description

The Ko laboratory at Penn Dental Medicine is recruiting a highly motivated and inquisitive individual for an entry-level laboratory position. A list of published studies from the laboratory can be found in the link below:

The RESEARCH LABORATORY TECHNICIAN will be responsible for:

  • Assist in carrying out experiments on various supervised research projects within the lab.
  • Assist with techniques in animal husbandry, histology and molecular and cellular biology carrying out routine tasks such as lab/experiment preparation.
  • Gather data from experiments, complete data entry and analyze data in collaboration with senior level researchers - with the intent of presenting research results in laboratory meetings.
  • Monitors and manages inventory, placing supply orders as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned. Provide and maintain expertise in innovative solutions focused on the responsible stewardship of Penn Dental Medicine and its community experience.
Qualifications

HS Degree required/Bachelor's Degree preferred; with 0-1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions:

Office, library, computer room;
Requires extensive safety training;
Requires protective devices;
Some weekend work may be required to assist with animal husbandry.

Physical Effort:
Typically sitting at a desk or table;
Occasional lifting 25 lb.
