successful candidates will work both independently and as part of a team. Independent work primarily involves conducting angler use and harvest surveys and aquatic invasive species (ais) sampling and/or education efforts within the northeast fish management area. This position also assists with fish population surveys and ongoing research projects. Primary job duties include field work, such as netting, electrofishing, and ais watercraft inspection/decontamination.
Additionally, candidates will use tablets and computers for data entry and perform laboratory work, which involves removing fish aging structures and estimating fish ages. Maintenance tasks related to vehicles, equipment, buildings, and grounds will be completed to ensure the smooth operation of work activities. Candidates interested in independent research will complete a proposal with the assistance of a full-time staff member before any data collection efforts.
