Job Overview
Thies & Talle Management, Inc., a leading property management company with nearly forty years of experience in the multi‑housing industry, is seeking a part‑time Maintenance Technician (20 hours per week) for two apartment communities located in Pierre, SD.
Pay range: $20.00/hr – $22.00/hr (wage depends on experience).

Responsibilities- Maintain apartments, common building systems, and grounds.
- Conduct apartment turnover maintenance and repairs.
- Repair appliances, plumbing, electrical, and perform carpentry work.
- Respond to on‑call and emergency maintenance requests; must be within a 50‑mile radius of the property.
- Maintain lawn and exterior buildings, including mowing, seeding, sodding, rescreening windows, and snow/ice removal.
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractors and equipment maintenance.
- Purchase supplies such as paint, locks, and light bulbs; maintain plant equipment (lawnmowers, snowblowers, chainsaws).
- Prepare and maintain paperwork: invoices, service requests, timesheets.
- Communicate with residents, staff, and management; uphold company standards and applicable laws.
- High school diploma.
- 2–3 years of experience as a general maintenance mechanic or related occupation (or equivalent education/experience).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in plumbing, electrical, heating, and carpentry.
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform outdoor work for extended periods.
- Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and on‑call hours, including month‑end turnovers.
Work is performed outdoors in varying weather and noise conditions. Employees may encounter unsanitary conditions, hazardous fumes, and contact with human waste. Physical demands include standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
Other DetailsMaintenance technicians are expected to own basic hand and small power tools. Safe use of cleaning products, equipment, and snow‑removal tools is also required.
