Project Manager
Join Hoffer Plastics to lead cross‑functional teams in developing and launching high‑quality plastic parts.
Overall RoleResponsible for achieving cost, timing, and performance objectives to meet or exceed customer expectations on all projects. Pursue defect‑free launches through multidisciplinary teams focused on simultaneous design of the part, tool, and process.
Essential Responsibilities- Manage the product development and launch process to achieve on‑time, on‑budget, defect‑free launches.
- Understand project scope and manage changes to scope.
- Utilize project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project) to track milestones.
- Document key issues and maintain a permanent project log to track action items, assignments, and compliance.
- Identify key project issues and communicate to avoid team conflict; resolve or escalatie issues in a timely fashion.
- Prepare and present regular action‑item updates to stakeholders.
- Assess and document opportunities and lessons learned for continuous improvement; complete project closeout report.
- Meet with customers to define expectations and resolve project issues while maintaining satisfaction.
- Work with Sales to align customer expectations, timing, and corporate objectives.
- Assign individual responsibilities and coordinate closely with Operations for smooth launches.
- Submit sampling requests to the quality department in a timely manner.
- Lead verification of product fit, form, and function as defined by the customer.
- Communicate with suppliers via purchasing to define requirements and resolve issues.
- Evaluate project risks and recommend cost‑saving ideas.
- Proficient in organizing multiple projects while balancing customer and team needs.
- Capable of building and motivating project teams to meet and exceed objectives.
- Disciplined in documenting and communicating issues and required actions.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Plastics Technology, Project Management, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of plastic mold injection experience plus understanding of inject tooling.
- Working knowledge of plastic injection tooling design and build requirements.
- Strong computer skills in CAD (prefer Solid Works).
- Experienced in preparing timing charts, spreadsheets, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, etc.
- Strong analytical problem‑solving skills to break complex issues into defined actions.
- Effective communicator with customers, suppliers, and employees.
- Familiarity with PPAP submission.
- Frequently sit and use keyboard.
- Stand, exposed to fumes, odors, dust, oil, humidity.
- Walk, bend at waist, twist/turn, kneel/crouch, climb occasionally.
- Lift 0–30 lbs, push, pull, occasional above shoulder.
- Manipulative hand and foot movements, repetitive hand/wrist, squeeze.
