1st Shift Mold Setup Technician-D – Hoffer Plastics
Join Hoffer Plastics as a 1st Shift Mold Setup Technician-D. This role focuses on molding parts, machine set up, auxiliary equipment set up, and process parameter input, while maintaining a neat and orderly work area in line with 5S standards and safety policies.
Starting Pay: $18.25 – $23.50 (based on experience). 1st Shift
Hours:
08:00am – 04:00pm
. Training is provided by Hoffer, extensive benefits and pay premiums for night shifts.
Responsibilities vary by level. Below is a summary of duties for each level.
Level C- Complete B level training curriculum.
- Perform mold set up and color changes to meet production demands.
- Set molding process parameters with assistance of foreman, supervisor, or higher-level technician.
- Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with quality inspectors to identify defects.
- Perform material handling duties as assigned.
- Complete A level training curriculum.
- Set molding process parameters to ensure part quality.
- Troubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment problems and make necessary changes.
- Learn new technology as it is introduced.
- Work with Supervisor and/or Lead Molding Technician to identify ways to improve productivity and reduce scrap, defects, etc.
- Work with quality inspectors to identify defects and make decisions relative to process changes.
- Sample new and existing molds.
- Stay current with new technology in molding, auxiliary equipment, robots, etc.
- Promote safety by abiding by policies, procedures and set a good example.
- Maintain 5S and cleanliness; perform assigned cleaning tasks.
- Assume supervisory or foremen responsibilities in their absence.
- Usually stand/walk most of the shift.
- Frequently bend at waist, twist, kneel/crouch, climb ladders and climb onto machinery with fall protection.
- Occasionally push, pull, lift up to 75 lbs or more; lift above waist or shoulder up to 75 lbs and over.
- Perform hand, wrist, finger, and foot movements for forklift pedal controls.
- Occasionally perform keyboarding and squeezing movements.
- Frequently exposed to odors, dust, oil/grease.
- Minimum education:
High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate. - Ability and interest in progressing through leveled Molding Technician training curriculum.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and math proficiency.
- Proficient in reading/writing English.
- Computer proficiency.

- Hoffer Plastics matches 0.50 per $1.00 contributed each payroll up to 6% plus a Safe Harbor contribution equal to 3% of employee’s annual eligible earnings.
