Mold Setup Technician - 2nd Shift (Starting Pay $18.25-$29.00 per hour) $1,000 Sign on BONUS

Hoffer Plastics is hiring Set Up/Mold Technicians for the 2nd shift (4:00pm-12:00am). Pay starts at $18.25–$29.00 per hour, based on experience, plus a 4% shift premium. A $1,000 sign‑on bonus is available. The Mold Setup Technician is responsible for molding parts in accordance with internal and external customer requirements. This includes machine set up, auxiliary equipment set up, process parameter input, maintaining a neat and orderly work area in accordance with 5S standards, and adhering to safety policies.

Responsibilities
  • Complete B level training curriculum during level

    C.
  • Perform mold set up and color changes to meet production demands.
  • Set molding process parameters with the assistance of a foreman, supervisor, or A/B level molding technician.
  • Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with quality inspectors to identify defects.
  • Perform material handler duties as assigned.
  • Complete A level training curriculum during level

    B.
  • Set molding process parameters to ensure part quality.
  • Troubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment problems and make necessary changes to ensure quality and reduce downtime.
  • Learn new technology as it is brought to manufacturing.
  • Work with the supervisor and/or lead molding technician to identify ways to improve productivity and reduce scrap, defects, etc.
  • Work with quality inspectors to identify defects and make good decisions relative to process changes.
  • Sample new and existing molds.
  • Keep current with new technology in molding, auxiliary equipment, robots, etc.
  • Promote safety by abiding by all related policies and procedures and set a good example for others.
  • Help maintain 5S and cleanliness in the plant by doing assigned cleaning tasks and setting a good example for others.
  • Assume responsibilities of supervisor or foreman in their absence.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with customers, clients, co‑workers, and management.
  • Continue to grow job‑specific knowledge and use tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Physical Requirements
  • Usually stand or walk most of the shift.
  • Frequently bend at the waist, twist, kneel/crouch, climb ladders, and climb on machinery with proper fall protection.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift up to 75 lbs or more.
  • Occasionally lift above waist and/or shoulder up to 75 lbs and over.
  • Sometimes perform hand, wrist, finger, and foot movements for pedal controls on forklift.
  • Occasionally perform keyboarding and squeezing movements.
  • Frequently exposed to odors, dust, and oil/grease.
Qualifications
  • Minimum education of high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
  • Must be able and interested in successfully progressing through leveled molding technician training curriculum.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and math proficiency.
  • Proficient in reading and writing English.
  • Computer proficient.
