Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Giving Specialist, Full-time

Turn meaningful connections into lasting support for homeless animals.

You remember the details that matter. You enjoy starting conversations and asking thoughtful questions with genuine interest, then following through. And when you truly believe in a cause, you can confidently inspire others to support it too.

At Anderson Humane, these strengths can make a significant difference. We're looking for a Giving Specialist to ensure donors feel connected, appreciated, and motivated to deepen their support of our mission. In this mid-level development role, you'll build relationships, create memorable donor experiences, and turn enthusiasm for animal welfare into continued and increased giving.

What you'll do
  • Build lasting donor relationships. Develop individual giving strategies, reconnect with past donors, and make thoughtful, confident requests for continued and increased financial support.
  • Create meaningful donor experiences. Plan and lead tours, receptions, small gatherings, and stewardship activities, with timely acknowledgements and personal follow-up.
  • Help fundraising events succeed. Support sponsorship efforts, guest cultivation, event preparation, execution, and follow-up.
  • Inspire generosity through communication. Contribute to appeals, proposals, campaigns, and fundraising materials that connect supporters with our mission.
  • Shape strategy and track progress. Partner with Development colleagues on annual plans, revenue goals, donor segmentation, and campaign priorities; maintain your donor portfolio, accurate database records, and activity updates.
  • Be a welcoming representative. Build responsive relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners, and represent Anderson Humane professionally at fundraising and organizational events.
  • Expand our circle of support. Work with Corporate Development, when assigned, to engage businesses, foundations, and community partners in donations, gifts, and partnerships.
What you'll bring
  • Relationship-building experience in fundraising, donor engagement, sales, account management, community engagement, or a related field.
  • An outgoing, thoughtful approach that helps people feel welcome, heard, and valued, paired with enthusiasm for Anderson Humane's mission.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt your approach to different audiences.
  • Confidence to ask for financial support, and to follow up with professionalism and care.
  • Organization and ownership: the ability to manage relationships, events, deadlines, and accurate records while collaborating toward shared goals.

Make your connections count. A thoughtful conversation can renew someone's commitment. A memorable visit can deepen their connection. A well-timed invitation can turn that connection into greater support.

Anderson Humane. Your contributions save lives.
