Sr. Python Data Engineer

Globant is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Python) to design, build, and ship production-grade data and AI systems for enterprise clients. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on delivery, including owning end-to-end data and AI feature releases, mentoring junior engineers, and guiding technical work streams from design through production.

Experience: 5+ years

• Design, build, and deliver production-grade data and AI systems for enterprise clients
• Lead technical work streams and coordinate execution across delivery phases
• Mentor junior engineers to help strengthen engineering practices and team execution
• Own end-to-end delivery of data and AI features, from implementation decisions to production outcomes

• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in data engineering, including leading technical work streams, mentoring junior engineers, and driving adoption of software engineering best practices within a team
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL
• Ability to work in polyglot environments (Scala, Java) when required by client enterprise systems
• Strong experience building Agentic AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Business Intelligence systems, including:
  • Prompt design
  • Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
  • Embeddings
  • Vector databases
  • Context construction
  • Output handling in production workflows
• Hands-on experience with modern data and AI frameworks such as Spark, Lang Chain, Databricks, Dask, Airflow, Dagster, and Kedro
• Ability to lead AI feature implementation end to end, with sound judgment across:
  • Model behavior
  • Evaluation
  • Reliability
  • Guardrails
  • Trade-offs between quality, latency, and cost
• Deep knowledge of MLOps/LLMOps
  , including CI/CD for data workflows and automated agent evaluation (Lang Smith, Opik, Langfuse)
• Experience using infrastructure as code (Terraform) across AWS, Azure, and GCP
• Experience implementing data security and governance controls, including managing PII/PHI
  , authentication, and RBAC
• Exceptional time management and the ability to own technical work streams autonomously
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and the local office language
• Willingness to travel as required

• Experience using coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, etc.)
