Overview

The Department of Geology and Geography at Mount Holyoke College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Earth Science, to begin July 1, 2026. We are searching for a geoscientist whose research interests are in the earth, ocean, atmospheric, or polar sciences or in geoscience education.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a 2/2 load, including an intermediate-level undergraduate course on Weather and Atmospheric Science, in addition to general education and upper-level courses.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to accessible and inclusive pedagogy.
  • Mentor students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
  • Pursue scholarly contributions in research with potential for outstanding impact.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. required or ABD (all but dissertation).
  • Experience mentoring diverse student populations; commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
