Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Cathodic Protection Project Manager that will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering cathodic protection projects across industrial, municipal, and energy infrastructure assets. This role oversees the full project lifecycle—including design, budgeting, scheduling, field execution, compliance, and client communication—to ensure corrosion control systems are installed, tested, and commissioned to industry standards. This is a hybrid opportunity that will report to our Asset Integrity office in Houston, TX.

This position will require travel as needed to support various clients.

Key Responsibilities Project Management & Execution
  • Manage end-to-end cathodic protection (CP) projects, including impressed current systems, galvanic systems, pipeline surveys, storage tank protection, and facility retrofits.
  • Develop detailed project plans, scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and resource allocations.
  • Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, materials, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys, and pre-construction assessments.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Review engineering drawings, CP system designs, and specifications for compliance and constructability.
  • Oversee installation of CP systems, including rectifiers, anode beds, test stations, cabling, and monitoring equipment.
  • Interpret and analyze CP testing data (CIS, DCVG, ACVG, PSP, soil resistivity, current requirements).
  • Ensure proper commissioning, system troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company and client safety procedures, ensuring all field work complies with OSHA, NACE / AMPP, API, DOT, or other applicable standards.
  • Maintain high-quality workmanship and accurate data reporting.
  • Manage project risks, corrective actions, and change orders.
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, inspectors, and utility owners.
  • Provide technical guidance, project updates, and status reports.
  • Build strong client relationships to support repeat business and future growth.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Track project budgets, expenses, forecasts, and invoicing.
  • Prepare project documentation, test reports, as-built drawings, and closeout packages.
  • Support proposal development and assist with bid reviews.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, corrosion engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Must hold a valid CP 3 or CP 4 AMPP / NACE certification.
  • 3–8+ years of experience in cathodic protection, corrosion control, pipeline integrity, or related disciplines.
  • Proven project management experience in industrial or utility environments.
  • Strong knowledge of CP principles, field testing, and corrosion mitigation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with pipeline integrity programs (CFR 49 Parts 192 / 195).
  • STI (Steel Tank Institute) Certification
  • API (American Petroleum Institute) Certifications – API 510 (Vessels), 570 (Piping), and 653 (Tanks)
  • Familiarity with rectifier troubleshooting, AC mitigation, and soil corrosion issues.
  • PMP or formal project management training.
