Accounting Manager

We are seeking a dedicated, detail‑oriented Accounting Manager to support our accounting and reporting functions. This hands‑on, manager‑level role is responsible for overseeing and performing core accounting operations and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager plays a key role in the monthly close, reporting, and operational accounting processes.

• Manage and perform day‑to‑day accounting activities including general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Manage and develop an accounting professional, overseeing their work, providing coaching, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Serve as a key contributor to financial reporting, including balance sheet and income statement analysis.
• Assist the Controller with internal controls, accounting policies, and close documentation.

• Support claims accounting processes, including coordination around IBNR and claims payable activity.
• Monitor trust and client funds in accordance with TPA and insurance regulations.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Perform and review complex reconciliations, including loan balances, premium receivables, cash, ACH clearing, and trust accounts.
• Support loan reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy of balances, interest calculations, covenant tracking, and related disclosures.
• Play a lead role in internal and external audits, including preparing schedules, responding to audit requests, and partnering with auditors through completion.
• Assist with statutory reporting and regulatory filings as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with state DOI regulations, GAAP, and internal accounting controls.
• Identify and remediate audit findings or control gaps in partnership with the Controller.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, Claims, and Compliance teams to resolve discrepancies and improve workflows.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and documentation within accounting processes.
• Provide guidance and training to accounting staff as needed.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Hands‑on experience with loan accounting, premium accounting, ACH processing, and cash reconciliations.
• Prior experience managing or mentoring accounting team members.
• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred.
• Experience in a TPA, health plan, managed care organization, or insurance carrier is preferred.
