Overview

WSP is seeking a Sr. Transportation Project Manager to join our Salt Lake City Transportation Team. Be involved in projects with our Civil Engineering Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

The Sr. Transportation Project Manager will provide leadership within a sector of the organization to ensure civil engineering subject matter, technical deliverables, infrastructure projects and programs are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry and company standards for design, safety, and functionality.

We have a versatile, talented Transportation team in Salt Lake City, who work on projects ranging from large freeway design/build projects to local municipal sidewalks. We have managers for alternative delivery projects, program management (owner's representatives), municipal work, and traditional design-bid-build projects. We are seeking a Transportation Project Manager for traditional projects who works well with our current team and can generate work with our key clients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of transportation projects and project teams for agencies in the SW Mountain District (Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico) as an active member of the transportation team.
  • Lead key projects as Project Manager, Sr Lead or other roles as appropriate.
  • Be an active participant in contract negotiations.
  • Lead staff and have responsibility for project management responsibilities, including oversight of project financial performance, adherence to project management and quality control plans, and adequacy of risk management plans.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure quality project deliverables, including PS&E documents, engineering reports, project memorandums, etc.
  • Manage the collection, compilation and analysis of data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, hydrologic analysis, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
  • Apply high-level civil engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases involving more complex infrastructure and transportation engineering work including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
  • Manage professional civil engineering work and conduct more complex/comprehensive investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, facilities, water supply, pipelines, pollution sources, building, transportation channels, and power plants to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Review and approve construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; construction safety and phasing plans; and updated infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Manage design and construction of infrastructure projects, from project inception through project completion. Scopes of work include rehabilitation and reconstruction, grading, drainage, pavement design, specifications, building materials, phasing, and construction safety plans.
  • Manage the development and implementation of advanced technologies, monitoring devices, building materials, modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality or end-users, transportation vehicles/systems, and implementing future-ready solutions with civil engineering design standards.
  • Lead larger-scale civil engineering projects, managing project budgets; monitoring external events; and tracking hours and expenses. Will also supervise subcontractors, contract work and internal team members, ensuring team members have information needed for their project input. Ensure satisfactory project performance.
