Job DescriptionRole is onsite with expectation of primary work from an HPE partner/customer office. No remote or hybrid.
Responsibilities- Linux Systems Administrator – system management, daily monitoring and optimization.
- Active member of HPE account team, interacting with Service Delivery Manager, Sales, customer and site staff.
- Answer customer inquiries concerning system software versions, product life cycles, new releases and third‑party applications.
- Maintain Linux system availability, create and document site procedures, system diagrams and configuration documents.
- Maintain system software and firmware revisions, including patches, updates and OS upgrades.
- Resolve system hardware, software and third‑party software issues, providing detailed analysis of problem and solution.
- Gather data, perform analysis and, when necessary, upscale issues to higher‑level product support groups and appropriate management to ensure timely resolution of system or customer issues, then implement solutions, repairs and workarounds, fully documenting steps taken.
- Document and share troubleshooting techniques, new ideas and utilities to develop and grow organizational knowledge.
- Manage software issues for both system and user applications, submitting and tracking bugs as required.
- Linux operating systems (RHEL or SLES), workload management systems, parallel file systems, networking and security.
- Technical skills to investigate and resolve complex problems.
- Experience and proficiency with multiple programming and scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Python, C, etc.) preferred.
- Ability to maintain system software, utilizing debugging tools for problem isolation; perform software builds, upgrades and patch installation as needed.
- Organizational and analytical skills to effectively isolate both hardware and software problems and drive solutions through to conclusion.
- Clear documentation of processes and procedures with a focus on mentoring and knowledge sharing.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related area of study OR equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years’ HPC‑related experience, ideally with large‑scale HPC and parallel file system administration and support.
Onsite, Full Time, Salt Lake City, Utah. TS/SCI with full scope poly clearance required. US citizenship required.
