The Town of South Kingstown, a diverse coastal community of 32,000 citizens, has an exciting opportunity in the Planning Department. The Town is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Deputy Director of Planning.
Under the general guidance and direction of the Director of Planning, and in coordination with the Town Council, Planning Board, and other municipal boards and commissions, the professional in this position performs high level technical, administrative, and professional planning work, as well as assists with municipal policy development relating to land use and long-range community planning. This position is responsible for performing various planning related duties, including but not limited to, the processing and review of land development and subdivision applications.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in community planning, urban planning/city planning, regional planning, natural resources science, another closely related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in land use planning, with five (5) or more years in a supervisory capacity and/or a demonstrated ability to supervise/manage staff or a Master’s Degree in Community Planning (MCP) or related field and a minimum of five (5) years experience.
Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred.
The starting rate of pay for this 35 hour per week Salary $52.18 – $56.30 Hourly, $94,965 – $102,460 Annually. The position includes a full benefit package. To apply, please fill out an online application found by going to the Job Opportunities site on the Town website:
