The University of Aberdeen’s School of Law is an ambitious School with a long history of high quality and innovative teaching, research and scholarship. We are consistently ranked in the Top 20 UK Law Schools (rated 12 in the Times and 13 in the Guardian University Guide 2026). We are committed to equality and diversity and hold an Athena Swan Bronze Award.

We have a supportive research and scholarship culture which will encourage and enable the successful candidate to pursue their research and scholarship ambitions as appropriate to the post.

Job Description

To support the delivery of our core programmes and to provide cover for a colleague who has successfully secured a research fellowship, we wish to appoint fixed-term Teaching Fellowships in Law. The successful candidate or candidates will be appointed to a Teaching Fellowship on a fixed-term basis. Although the role is primarily teaching‑focussed the successful candidate will have the opportunity, if desired, to become a member of one or more of the School’s Research Centres.

They will also receive academic mentoring throughout the currency of the post. The School welcomes applications from candidates wishing to work on a part‑time basis.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale, 70% of £38,784 per annum.

This post does not meet the minimum requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. We are therefore unable to consider applicants for this post that require sponsorship to work in the UK.

The School of Law embraces a diverse working environment and recognises the many benefits this can bring. Applications from individuals from across all of the equality protected characteristics are encouraged.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 18 August 2026.
