Position: NHS Dispatcher - Out Of Hours Service

The Role

The post holder provides admin support for the OOH service for clinical and non-clinical staff in conjunction with NHS 24, to ensure the clinical needs of patients are adhered to within the NHSL medical guidelines.

The post holder will, in partnership with NHS
24, assist to provide an efficient and effective clinical service for the people of Lanarkshire in the Out of Hour’s period when their own GP is not available. The post holder must ensure accurate and considered dispersal of patients information, which have been determined by medical staff is completed in line with the allotted timescales.

What

we'll need you to bring
  • SVQ level 3 or equivalent NHS experience preferably in an Out of Hours Service, or similar Call Centre environment.
  • Knowledge of a range of standard operating procedures and practices, as well as knowledge of software programme (Adastra) acquired through in-house training.
  • Must be able to demonstrate flexibility, initiative and be able to make decisions in a pressurised environment.
  • Understanding of a range of work procedures which can often be adhoc situations.
  • A good geographical knowledge of Lanarkshire.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Car driver.

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have
  • Previous NHS experience preferably within primary care.
  • Experience in a customer/patient focused environment.
  • Working knowledge of database systems.
  • Knowledge/understanding of the Out of Hours service.

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Out Of Hours Service within Douglas Street Clinic.

The working pattern for this role will be various, over 7 days including dayshift/backshift/night shifts.
