Position Overview: We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Block Plant Operative to join our manufacturing team. In this hands‑on role, you’ll assist in the production, handling, and quality control of concrete blocks and related products, ensuring production targets are met safely and efficiently. You’ll operate plant machinery and equipment, carry out basic maintenance and housekeeping tasks, and follow strict health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands‑on work, operating machinery, and being part of a team in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate block manufacturing machinery and associated plant safely and efficiently to meet production targets
  • Assist in the production, curing, and handling of concrete blocks and related products
  • Carry out routine checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance on plant machinery and equipment
  • Safely move, stack, and prepare finished products for storage and dispatch using appropriate equipment
  • Follow daily production schedules and instructions from supervisors to ensure efficient workflow
  • Conduct regular quality checks to ensure products meet required specifications and standards
  • Report any machinery faults, defects, safety concerns, or production issues promptly
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with housekeeping standards
  • Assist with stock control, site inspections, and operational audits as required
  • Work flexibly across different production tasks and support colleagues to meet business needs
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Previous experience operating manufacturing plant or industrial machinery within a production environment
  • Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to carry out routine maintenance and identify equipment faults
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures and a commitment to following safe working practices
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality products
  • Reliable, punctual, and self‑motivated with a positive work ethic
  • Able to undertake manual handling duties in a manufacturing environment
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work across different production tasks and shift patterns
Desirable
  • Previous experience in a concrete products, block manufacturing, construction materials, or similar production environment
  • Forklift Truck (FLT) licence or experience operating material handling equipment
