Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician

Base Pay Range: $18.75/hr – $24.50/hr

Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. May assist pharmacists in administering clinical services and coordinating inventory management activities.

• Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members, including greetings, eye contact, courtesy, proactive help, need identification, and completing service until satisfied.
• Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.

• Assists in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy; reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medication, checking for interactions, and scheduling work flow.
• Reports prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and adheres to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Adheres to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
• Registers all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required, and assists customers to the OTC aisle when possible.
• Handles telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including calls to physicians.
• Processes and resubmits manual claims for third‑party prescription services efficiently.
• Assists in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals, and filing claims for overages, shortages, order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
• May assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including collection and labeling of blood/urine samples, and coordination of Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Supports Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining relationships with the local medical community through provider detailing, outreach to nursing homes, and other forums for growth opportunities.
• Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
• Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
• Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

• Earnings of PTCB certification through the designated training program; otherwise earns PTCB certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
• Attends training and completes required continuing education credits; maintains knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.

• PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
• One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (with specified exceptions).

• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills (counting, measuring, and weighing medications).
• Basic PC skills (e.g., startup/shutdown, mouse use, program navigation, file management, printing, online access).
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
