Main duties of the job

Cygnet Storthfield House is a 22‑bed specialist high‑support inpatient rehabilitation (level
2) service for men in Derbyshire. The service is dedicated to providing a high‑quality environment for promoting long‑term recovery.

From admission, our team focuses on maximising positive outcomes and recovery, with a clear path to the least restrictive environment. This includes preparing individuals for independent living or, for those needing continued support, our four‑bed step‑down service, The Sycamores, where they benefit from ongoing multidisciplinary team (MDT) support.

The service has 22 beds in total of which 9 are located on the ground floor suitable for individuals with some mobility issues. Located in South Normanton, two miles away from the busy Alfreton town centre, service users have access to all of the local amenities to ensure full integration into community life.

Service Line: Mental Health Rehabilitation (Level
2)

Professionally Accountable to: Consultant Psychiatrist

Managerially Responsible to: Hospital Manager

We are seeking an experienced full‑time specialty doctor who will work in Cygnet Storthfield House. Storthfield House is a highly specialised inpatient rehabilitation (level
2) service which can support up to 22 adult inpatients and aims to provide a high‑quality environment for prompting long‑term recovery.

You will be fully involved as a practising psychiatrist while being fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and first‑class multidisciplinary team.

Main duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide routine medical and psychiatric support including initial clerking and mental state examination of newly admitted residents
  • Carry out the assessment, appropriate investigation, diagnosis and treatment under Consultant supervision of residents
  • Maintain good communication with ward nursing staff, mental health professionals and other agencies as required
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, including CPA and Patient Review meetings
  • Maintain full records of medical and psychiatric assessments and interventions
  • Prepare discharge summaries in line with company policies and guidelines
  • Attend all mandatory training e.g. BLS, ILS, Breakaway training/PMVA training, Moving and Transferring, Infection Control, H&S
