Position: Lecturer of Applied Behavior Analysis (Contract Faculty)

The College of Human Development, Culture, and Media at Seton Hall University invites applications for a Lecturer of Applied Behavior Analysis (contract faculty position), beginning in August, 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Applied Behavior Analysis Master's program is just one of several graduate degree programs housed within the Department of Professional Psychology and Family Therapy. Other degree programs include Master's- and Educational Specialist-level offerings in Counseling and School Counseling, Psychological Studies, and School Psychology. The Department also has a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, as well as certificate programs in Applied Behavior Analysis and Sports Psychology.

It is a unique Department with collaboration between faculty and students across the related disciplines. Within the Department, all programs have a strong commitment to preparing competent, socially conscious, reflective professionals. This includes training future behavior analysts who are scientist-practitioners committed to adhering to evidence-based, ethical, and equitable practice. All graduates are prepared to meet the needs of clients within an ever-changing, multicultural, and complex urban/suburban landscape.

The Master's degree program in ABA is aligned with best practice and leads graduates towards future certification and licensure.

The candidate will be expected to maintain a strong presence on our South Orange, NJ residential campus while engaging in an array of high-impact activities with students that include teaching, advisement, mentoring, and academic program development.

The position entails a 12-credit teaching requirement during the Fall and Spring semesters (i.e., 4 courses per semester), commensurate with Department needs. Lecturers are initially appointed for a one-year term, which may be renewed and extended for a period of up to three years by the University; there is no limit on the number of renewals that may be sought, subject to Department and College needs.

Lecturers are also eligible for promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer. Although the position does not require research responsibilities, Seton Hall University is a Carnegie R2 institution.

  • 24-credit teaching load per academic year (i.e., four classes in the Fall and Spring semesters), which will include courses in behavior analysis such as Basic Principles of Behavior, Experimental Design, Ethics, OBM, Practicum, and Philosophy of Behaviorism;
  • Active service across the College and Department;
  • Curriculum development and program assessment, review, and revision;
  • Student advisement and thesis mentorship; and
  • A commitment to the University's Mission.
About the College of Human Development, Culture, and Media

Launched in Summer 2023, Seton Hall's College of Human Development, Culture, and Media (CHDCM) embodies the University's commitment to pedagogical innovation, intellectual ferment, and community engagement. Uniting scholars and students from four dynamic departments - Communication, Media, and the Arts;
