Personal Banker – Valley Bank

We are looking for a personal banker to provide effective support of sales and service activities within our banking office, developing new business by educating existing and potential clients and exemplifying our quality service standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with the bank’s mission statement.
  • Engage customers with friendly and professional service and educate them on all bank products and services, including cross‑selling.
  • Present a confident, professional demeanor to establish trust and assess customer needs, recommending appropriate products and services.
  • Meet with customers to analyze financial needs, maximize sales opportunities, open new accounts, and discuss/sell loan products.
  • Meet service quality standards, participate in the sales referral process, and assist management in coaching and mentoring branch staff.
  • Perform all required banking transactions efficiently using appropriate technology, maintain and balance a cash box, and support customers in using cash dispensing and coin machines.
  • Act as a vault teller ensuring branch cash adequacy and supporting currency ordering and distribution.
  • Assist in community events, support CRA initiatives, and report significant matters or unusual activity to management.
  • Maintain knowledge of the bank’s code of conduct, policies, and procedures.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to write correspondence.
  • Strong interpersonal customer‑service skills, attentiveness, and diplomacy.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills to resolve complex customer issues.
  • Sound decision‑making skills for on‑the‑spot customer transaction approvals, balancing customer satisfaction and risk.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written or oral form.
  • Deep understanding of retail banking and the ability to engage customers in product discussions.
  • Detail‑oriented, strong organizational skills, and high accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient computer skills.
Required Experience
  • High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of branch banking experience or successful completion of a retail banking training program.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions).
