Position: Estimator (Civil, Heavy/Highway) NJ

Estimator (Civil, Heavy/Highway) NJ – Join to apply for this role at Crisdel Group, Inc.

Great opportunity for a Civil Estimator to work with an amazing team in a collaborative environment! Working steady hours in a state‑of‑the‑art office, the Estimator will be responsible for preparing and submitting bids for site preparation, underground utility, highway, roadway, bridge, and asphalt paving projects in the New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and NYC metropolitan area.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare complete project scope estimates based on proposal documentation with detailed pricing and bid qualifications from concept to completion.
  • Evaluate bidding risks and strategies and analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase competitiveness.
  • Review, interpret, and analyze project documentation: drawings, specifications, data, geotechnical reports, addendums, etc.
  • Evaluate DBE/SBE goal requirements to ensure project compliance.
  • Attend pre‑bid meetings and/or perform pre‑bid job site visits.
  • Prepare and/or review “take‑off” quantities to ensure accuracy of data used in estimates.
  • Analyze competition and communicate with estimating team.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers/vendors by creating strategic alliances to ensure competitiveness.
  • Analyze and scope vendors/suppliers to determine best value and work proactively to pursue vendors and/or suppliers to commit to best pricing.
  • Prepare detailed estimate costs for all self‑perform work activities: craft hours, labor, material, and equipment costs from a crew‑based perspective.
  • Formulate all project indirect costs: staffing, project schedules, on‑site facilities, support costs with schedule development.
  • Research construction history for techniques related to job elements and productivity, value enhancing, value engineering, and alternative constructability.
  • Follow up with clients to ensure bid receipt and to identify potential obstacles and facilitate negotiations for submitted bid proposals.
  • Ensure bid proposals are completed in a timely fashion to allow for team review prior to submission.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a field or project engineer or construction estimator.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil preferred), Construction Management, Engineering Technology.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, technical specifications/procedures, and government regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to recognize discrepancies and meet critical deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, HCSS Heavy Bid, Agtek, Blue Beam, Pro Core, etc.
  • Good communication skills and ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work as a team to efficiently complete jobs to the highest customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Valid driver’s license issued within the United States, clear of multiple and/or major violations.
  • Successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen, motor vehicle records check; a criminal background check will also be conducted.
  • Verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States during hiring (federal law).
