POSITION SUMMARY
The Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting adult medical day care participants to and from the center each day. This role ensures punctual, respectful, and reliable service while maintaining compliance with New Jersey regulations for adult day health services transportation.
The driver represents the center in the community and must provide excellent customer service, patience, and professionalism at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Daily TransportationSafely transport participants from their homes to the center in the morning and return them home in the afternoon.
Follow pre-established daily routes and schedules.
Ensure all participants are properly seated and secured (including wheelchair tie-downs and seatbelts).
Assist participants with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including those with mobility limitations.
Perform safe vehicle operation in compliance with all state and local traffic laws.
Vehicle Safety & MaintenanceConduct and document daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to your supervisor immediately.
Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the vehicle interior.
Ensure proper functioning of ADA equipment, such as wheelchair lifts or ramps.
Participant Care & Customer ServiceProvide courteous and respectful interactions with all participants.
Observe and report changes in participants’ behavior or condition during transport.
Ensure confidentiality of all participant information (HIPAA compliance).
Compliance & ReportingMaintain accurate transportation logs, mileage sheets, and attendance sheets.
Follow emergency procedures and safety protocols.
Adhere to NJ Adult Day Care transportation regulations.
QualificationsValid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Prior experience working with seniors, adults with disabilities, or in a caregiving environment is preferred
Must be patient, respectful, and comfortable assisting individuals with mobility limitations
Ability to lift, support, and assist clients if needed
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Strong communication and customer service skills
Punctual and dependable
CDL or passenger endorsement is a plus, but not required (depending on vehicle type)
