You Are
The Associate Director is responsible for the overall success of CIEE Teach Abroad and TEFL programs. They manage program design & implementation, develop & execute strategic plans, oversee budgets, meet sales & enrollment targets, and coordinate activities among staff, overseas centers, third‑party partners, and other departments. The successful candidate is able to form relationships across cultures and assess partner needs to achieve program objectives.
A strong entrepreneurial spirit, creative perspective, and problem‑solving ability are required.
- Develop and implement strategic plans that include tactics and deliverables in program development, marketing, sales, enrollment, operations, and financial resources.
- Lead and mentor a remote sales and operations team delivering high‑quality programs, achieving sales goals, and meeting financial objectives.
- Develop budgets and monitor financial performance, providing monthly forecasts.
- Manage third‑party partners overseas, monitoring success and ensuring service levels.
- Develop a robust B2C communication, referral, and cross‑promotional strategy with College Study Abroad.
- Collaborate with Marketing to implement effective marketing plans on schedule.
- Ensure successful operation and evaluation of all program components, using participant surveys and enrollment data to improve programs and develop new products.
- Develop market intelligence and knowledge about competing programs and marketplace developments.
- Identify opportunities for new and improved programming, including new locations, partners, providers, products and services.
- Launch new program locations and products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5 years of relevant experience required, preferably in international business development or international education.
- Strong people‑management skills and experience required.
- Sales or marketing experience strongly preferred.
- Comprehension of market forces and customer desires to ensure proper service packages and adequate delivery required.
- Curiosity for using technology to improve service delivery is desirable.
- Excellent written communication and organizational skills with an attention to detail required.
- International travel, teach abroad or study‑abroad experience required.
- Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time required, including overnight and extensive international travel.
