Semiconductor Equipment Maintenance Technician - Diffusion EPI
Diodes Incorporated is seeking an experienced Diffusion/EPI Equipment Maintenance Technician for day or night shift at our South Portland, Maine facility. The position requires a flexible schedule and willingness to work rotating 12‑hour shifts, 3 on / 3 off.
Job ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance Technicians support manufacturing by maintaining ASM Epsilon 2000 EPI reactors, atmospheric and LPCVD diffusion furnaces, TEL automated wet benches, and TEL SiC Probus reactors. The role involves troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement in an environment with toxic gases, acids, solvents, high voltage, and kinetic energy hazards.
- Night shift provides a 15% shift differential on top of base pay.
- Initial work may involve daytime training, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 5 days per week for 10 to 52 weeks.
- Work is performed in a clean room environment requiring a smock, hood, booties, latex gloves, and safety glasses.
- Position may require the use of an airline respirator and occasional full‑face masks.
- Requires standing for up to 75% of shift and lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
- Troubleshoot and repair electromechanical systems, electro‑pneumatic systems, and perform all scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance.
Skills and Abilities
- Safety‑minded approach: understand and follow all safety documentation, specs, and protocol, including LOTO.
- Consistently take initiative and drive one’s own work at a high level.
- Cross‑train in other areas as needed.
- Comfortable handling chemicals, including acids, bases, and solvents.
- Comfortable handling gas systems, including toxic, corrosive, flammable, pyrophoric, and asphyxiant gases.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and vacuum systems; read electrical schematics; use digital multimeters and voltage supplies.
- Semiconductor equipment knowledge preferred.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technologies or Electromechanical Technologies or military equivalent, or other relevant education/experience.
