Retail Sales Lead Team Sports – DICK’S Sporting Goods
Location:
Portland, ME
Salary Range: $54,000–$125,000 per year
OverviewThe Lead has a direct impact on both the execution of brand standards and the teammate experience. With guidance from the Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager, the Lead serves as the in‑store expert for their business or department, focusing on delivering outstanding customer service and providing direction to teammates.
Responsibilities- Supports building and hiring a strong team by observing in‑store interviews and department tours.
- Builds a people‑first culture by connecting with every teammate to build trust, respect, and contribute to a strong store recognition culture.
- Plans, organizes, and controls 30‑day schedules with guidance from the Assistant Store Manager, ensuring workforce alignment for daily assignments, game plans, projects, or store events.
- Strategically leverages teammates to ensure brand standards are met, programs and processes are executed daily, and tasks are delegated based on priority.
- Upholds company merchandising and presentation standards by following established floor sets, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment standards.
- Assists store leadership with general supervision, following company policies and procedures.
- Trains teammates on company procedures and programs, including onboarding new teammates and cross‑training current teammates.
- Prioritizes coaching and development by providing hands‑on coaching and explaining the rationale behind tasks, plans, and processes (e.g., Protection Plans, Scorecards, Loss Prevention).
- Leads by example, supporting the organization’s vision and helping teammates understand how their responsibilities align with common purpose and organizational goals.
- Creates an inclusive store environment where everyone feels welcome, safe, and treated with respect.
- Adheres to policies and procedures related to safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures; maintains confidentiality of all company information.
- Takes an all‑hands‑on‑deck approach to support the team across the store.

- Prior retail sales or customer‑focused experience preferred.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift 15–35 lbs. items repetitively (up to 25 times per hour).
- Ability to work extended periods (up to 4 hours) standing or walking.
- Ability to work at heights >4 ft. using a ladder, aerial lifting device, or platform.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions for short periods (up to 2 hours continuously).
