Medical Receptionist – Nephrology – Physician Practice
Location:
South River, New Jersey (must be willing to work in both South River and Manalapan offices)
Job Details: Part‑time, 32 hours per week. Monday‑Thursday 8am‑5pm / Friday 8am‑4pm. Schedule may vary week to week.
OverviewHackensack Meridian Health is a leading healthcare organization committed to improving patient outcomes and fostering community support. The Medical Receptionist will provide reception and clerical services under the supervision of the practice manager and physicians, including patient coordination, billing, and office support.
Responsibilities- Receive and direct all communications courteously, adhering to HIPAA and office policies.
- Greet patients and visitors promptly, maintaining a friendly and welcoming environment.
- Assist patients with the sign‑in process and respond to needs.
- Manage financial responsibilities: verify billing information, prepare deposits, complete daily cash receipts.
- Monitor office supplies, notify Practice Manager of low inventory, and initiate orders.
- Oversee patient check‑in and check‑out processes, verify insurance eligibility, collect copayments, and submit accurate data to the billing system.
- Schedule appointments, review charge slips, and ensure all paperwork (face sheet, ABN, HIPAA forms) is completed.
- Promote patient satisfaction through excellent service; communicate issues to management.
- Maintain accurate filing and record‑keeping systems; assemble new patient folders and retrieve records.
- Adapt work schedule to practice needs; work additional hours or cross‑cover as required.
- Pre‑load data into the EMR system and perform additional duties or projects as assigned.
- Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and behavioral standards.
Required:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Strong accountability, teamwork focus, ability to learn quickly, and dedication to ongoing education.
- Willingness to travel to various locations.
Preferred:
- Prior receptionist or clerical experience in a medical office.
- Experience using Epic.
- CPR certification.
Minimum rate of $18.36 per hour; pay is benchmarked against market data and may vary based on experience, education, and other factors. Part‑time positions include a comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, retirement). Shift differentials may apply.
