First/Second Grade Split Teacher (1 FTE) – One‑Year Contract (External Applicants Only)

Position TypeElementary School Teaching – 9‑month contract.
Required Training and Education- Utah State Board of Education (USBE) approved criminal background check.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Current Professional Utah Elementary teaching license or a current out‑of‑state professional elementary license.
- New graduates without a license must upload a conferral letter from their university. The letter must be on official university letterhead and include the degree earned, anticipated graduation date, and the type of license and content area(s) recommended to the USBE.
- ESL endorsement preferred.
- Must have officially graduated before the position start date. A copy of the teaching license and degree will be required upon hire.
- Teach core content areas outlined in the USBE’s Core Curriculum and adopted by the Utah Department of Education, correlating these with other approved learning activities.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Provide individualized and small‑group instruction tailored to student needs.
- Utilize teaching techniques that translate lesson plans into productive learning experiences, maximizing instructional time.
- Integrate computers and other technological classroom support equipment.
- Supervise students indoor and outdoor (recess, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all weather conditions.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior; implement appropriate discipline strategies.
- Evaluate academic and social growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
- Apply Proficiency‑Based Learning and the Granite Way in student evaluations.
- Communicate with parents via conferences, phone, email, planners, and the school website.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff on student growth areas.
- Ensure attendance, physical presence, and timeliness.
- Create effective learning environments using displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Maintain safety and support within the classroom and school campus.
- Engage in in‑service education and self‑directed professional development.
- Participate in faculty meetings, educator evaluation procedures, and group standardized tests per district and state protocols.
- Serve on faculty committees and sponsor student activities.
- Order and requisition instructional materials; maintain inventory records.
- Model professional and ethical standards, demonstrating competency as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
- Act as a positive role model for students and the community.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the school principal.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers and educational technology.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Calm classroom management and positive learning environment creation.
- Effective time and multi‑tasking management skills.
- Requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and occasionally climbing or balancing.
- Must lift up to 10 lbs regularly and up to 25 lbs occasionally (up to 50 lbs for P.E., CTE, theatre and/or art teachers).
- Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Auditory: the ability to speak and hear effectively.
- Extended periods at a keyboard or workstation are expected.
