About Torus

Torus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 540,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called Giga One. Our mission is to build the world’s first mesh energy infrastructure — built to unite people and communities through resilient, secure, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid.

Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.

At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.

About the Role

Torus is hiring a Human Resources Business Partner to support our Manufacturing organization—serving as the primary people advisor to manufacturing leaders and frontline teams as we scale production and grow headcount s is a hands‑on, highly embedded HRBP role. You’ll be deeply involved day‑to‑day with supervisors and leaders, helping maintain culture and performance expectations while navigating the realities of a high‑volume workforce: hiring ramps, attendance and performance coaching, employee relations, and fast, fair decision‑making.

You’ll play a critical role in ensuring our people practices scale thoughtfully, consistently, and in alignment with Torus’ standards. This role requires strong judgment, high ownership, operational rigor, and thrives being on the floor – not just advising from the sidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Be the primary People Ops partner for Manufacturing leaders and frontline supervisors—driving team health, execution, and culture on the floor.
  • Turn production goals into people plans (shift coverage, role clarity, org structure, and workforce readiness).
  • Own headcount planning + hiring readiness—what to hire, when to hire, and how to scale without breaking the team.
  • Coach supervisors in real time on accountability, performance management, feedback, and consistent decision‑making.
  • Lead employee relations with speed + fairness (attendance, corrective action, investigations, and terminations) with strong judgment and discretion.
  • Strengthen frontline leadership capability through practical tools, coaching, and consistent People Ops standards.
  • Deliver seamless onboarding and Day 1 readiness to increase first‑month retention and prevent early attrition.
  • Track and act on workforce data (headcount, attrition trends, staffing gaps, performance themes, retention risks).
  • Partner closely with Recruiting to improve pipeline flow, hiring velocity, and candidate quality for high‑volume roles.
  • Spot people risks early (morale, turnover spikes, manager gaps, engagement issues) and intervene before they escalate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
  • 6+ years of HRBP / People Operations experience, supporting manufacturing, operations, or high‑volume hourly work forces.
  • Strong employee relations skills (performance management, investigations, terminations, conflict resolution).
  • Proven ability to coach frontline leaders and supervisors through people issues with speed and consistency.
  • Experience partnering with Recruiting to support rapid hiring ramps and workforce planning.
  • High judgment, discretion, and ability to navigate complex interpersonal situations.
  • Background supporting manufacturing, or industrial teams.
  • Familiarity with compliance, timekeeping, and hourly workforce best practices.
  • Based in or near Utah with ability to work in person as needed.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in high‑growth/startup environments where processes are being built while scaling.

You’ll be a great fit if you’re excited by solving complex, real‑world energy challenges and enjoy work that is fast‑paced, ever‑evolving, and anything but boring. We’re building…
