The Position

Partnering Commercial Assessment Lead

The Global Pharma Strategy (GPS) team plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare by driving the strategic direction of our innovative product portfolio. As a member of GPS, you will be at the forefront of transforming groundbreaking scientific discoveries into accessible and impactful healthcare solutions for patients worldwide. We seek a dynamic and visionary professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about making a difference.

The Partnering Commercial Assessment Leaders (PCAL) team is part of the Portfolio, Strategy & Insights (PSI) department. Its mission is to shape Roche’s pipeline, improve the portfolio, anticipate needs, and deploy solutions to internal and external customers by providing powerful insights and influencing decisions at the highest level of the Pharmaceutical organization.

Your mission as a PCAL is to deliver objective market assessments and valuations of external early and late-stage business opportunities. You are strategic thought partners to Corporate Business Development (CBD) and senior stakeholders in GPS on a range of business and strategic questions related to the path to value and strategic fit of external assets in the existing product portfolio. This critical role connects the commercial and strategic perspective with partnering ambitions and influences enterprise-level decision-making with market potential expertise.

The Opportunity

  • Act as strategic thought partner representing the commercial view for a given licensing or M&A project: collaborate with Corporate Business Development to drive and influence recommendations and trade-offs on sophisticated global business development opportunities throughout the due diligence and negotiation process
  • Lead and influence global cross-functional teams: skillfully navigate complex organizational dynamics to ensure alignment of commercial strategy and value drivers in a fast-paced, matrix environment across numerous time zones, with the ability to respond effectively to unpredictable and time-sensitive workloads often dictated by external context and events
  • Catalyze and orchestrate the development and the review of commercial assessments for a given licensing or M&A project: identify the analysis approach, build the patient flow(s) and related revenue forecast(s), bring in the external / competitor / market perspective, and integrate data across multiple sources (including but not limited to primary and secondary research, real-world evidence and other internal data sources) to understand and predict market evolution
  • Catalyze and orchestrate the development and the review of financial valuations for a given licensing or M&A project: collaborate cross-functionally (incl GPS, GPMA, US Commercial, REDs/PD, CMC, Finance, Legal) to align model inputs, analyze key value drivers and sensitivities that can help support a decision
  • Portfolio stewardship: highlight the internal portfolio context to align business development projects with the company’s R&D and commercialization strategies, ensuring external opportunities reflect value to patients, society, and Roche
  • Strong communication and Executive Presence: effectively collaborate with and challenges both peers and senior partners to prepare the business case for governance bodies (including ESPC/LSPC, Mission Support, and CEC) and confidently present compelling insights to inform critical investment decisions that have the potential to significantly impact Roche's strategic direction and future growth
  • Identify and drive opportunities to streamline PCAL business operations and develop new principles, tools, or methodologies that evolve PCAL best practices
