Hours requirement: 8 to 5; may need to have some flexibility to work earlier/late as needed and on weekends but not anticipated it will be often.
For this role: will need someone that has a lot of experience with hazardous and biological waste and chemical management and chemical waste management. Someone knowledgeable of San Diego county HAZMAT and CERS – online portal for County Hazmat – someone is well versed in chemicals, spill response, chemical and biological waste management.
Training – is a big need that we need to improve for existing EE’s and for new employees. RGNE has good training but we need to get our employees set-up locally. There is online training which is great but in addition to that we need to administer in-person training. Looking to create more robust training.
Compliance/Reporting/Inspections – have various regulating agencies – most frequently we have inspections by County HAZMAT, Fire department. CAL OSHA. Might have storm water in the future. Also will need to conduct internal inspections so that we are ready for agency inspections.
Incident responses will also focus on– in 2025 we had about 13 incidents but nothing really major.
Key experience/background needed- Biotech experience needed, lab background, understanding of chemicals – biohazardous waste.
- Facilities management, lock-out/tag out.
- GMP and vivarium experience is preferred.
- Strong communication- will work with all departments from research through manufacturing.
- Good organization capabilities, ability to multi-task.
