Our Community Mental Health Therapists provide school‑based services and intensive services in our community of clients in San Francisco. Our clients are referred to us from SFDHD as well internally through other YMCA programs. This job includes a combination of mental health consultation, direct therapeutic service provision, and referral linkages as necessary to other local programs. Referrals range from outpatient weekly mental health services to intensive services that may include several hours in a week tending to clinical case management, family support, service linkage, provider collaboration and court advocacy.
Full‑time positions are expected to work 40 hours per week and deliver a minimum of 16 direct service hours to clients on each therapist’s case load.
- Direct Service Delivery (Minimum 16 hours per week)
- Provide clinical services directly to clients on assigned caseload.
- Deliver services in community settings, including schools, homes, or other accessible locations.
- Documentation & Case Management
- Complete all clinical documentation as required by agency standards and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date client charts and records.
- Submit documentation according to timelines established with the clinical supervisor.
- Travel & Community Engagement
- Travel across the city to meet clients at various school sites and community locations.
- Use personal vehicle or public transportation efficiently to reach service locations.
- Track and submit mileage reimbursement for workdays with multiple service locations.
- Supervision & Professional Development
- Participate in regular clinical supervision sessions.
- Attend required staff meetings, team meetings, and case consultations.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- General Duties & Administrative Tasks
- Maintain consistent communication with supervisor and team members.
- Collaborate with school staff, community partners, and other service providers as needed.
- Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
- MA or MS in Counseling, Clinical Psychology or Social work OR be within one academic year of completion
- California Board of Behavioral Science registration mandatory OR in last year of Graduate school and must be registration eligible.
- 2+ years of work or volunteerism in social services
- Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to deliver relevant and nuanced clinical care
- Proficiency with MS Windows, Office Suite
- YMCA approved CPR/First Aid Certification
- Clear TB test required
