Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Scientist I, Nanoparticle Formulation and Process Development

Gen Edit is an early-stage company that is developing a proprietary and novel delivery platform with the potential to transform genetic medicines. Our interdisciplinary team works together across polymer chemistry, payload, formulation, screening, and preclinical groups to develop the next generation of gene therapies and nanomedicines. We foster an exciting and dynamic environment where we value impactful data and creative solutions.

Job Description and Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team in Brisbane, CA, and support the development of genetic medicines utilizing Gen Edit’s proprietary hydrophilic nanoparticle (HNP) platform. This position will work full-time in our wet labs to support nanoparticle formulation activities and will report to a scientist in our product and process development (PPD) team. This position will be expected to execute at a high level in the lab, keep detailed lab records, execute, optimize, and develop analytical techniques, and cooperate efficiently with other technicians and scientists.

Education

and Qualifications
  • PhD (or BS/MS with significant experience) in nanoparticle sciences and formulation
  • 3+ years of relevant hands‑on lab experience, ideally in an industry setting
  • Required:

expertise in nanoparticle formulation and related analytical characterization: optimization of mRNA and small molecule encapsulation mixing methods (IJM, microfluidics), light scattering and zeta potential (DLS, MALS), quantitative fluorescence assays (Ribo Green, fluorescamine)
  • Highly preferred: nanoparticle scale‑up manufacturing and process development including purification and concentration methods (TFF, UF/DF, sterile filtration, analytical HPLC) and standard molecular and cell biology techniques including UV‑Vis, gel electrophoresis, protein expression characterization (western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry, Flow Jo) and transfection of mammalian tissue culture
  • Capable of independent experimental design, execution, and technical trouble shooting
  • Ability to efficiently execute in the lab, develop standard operating procedures with precise reproducibility, and maintain detailed electronic lab notebook records
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Work authorization in the US is required
