Research Scientist, Drug Discovery, Pharmaceutical Science/ Research, Biomedical Science
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Biophysicist with hands‑on experience in small‑molecule drug discovery to join our dynamic Lead Discovery group. This will support a major biophysics initiative launching in Q4 and help manage increased workflow across multiple discovery programs.
As a key contributor within the Biophysics team, you will work closely with cross‑functional partners in Bioassays, Structural Biology, Protein Sciences, Compound Management, Pharmacology, and Medicinal Chemistry. You will be responsible for the biophysical and mechanistic characterization of small‑molecule ligands binding to protein targets, supporting both routine compound profiling and deeper mechanistic understanding to advance the drug discovery pipeline. This is a hands‑on laboratory role based onsite in South San Francisco.
Key Responsibilities- Biophysical Assay Execution & Innovation:
Independently design, execute, and interpret binding characterization studies using SPR (Biacore S200 and 8K+). - Perform routine compound screening and advanced mechanistic analyses using biophysical platforms such as nano
DSF, DLS, and Spectral Shift assays. - Support assay development and implementation of new instrumentation in collaboration with the Principal Scientist.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for CRO partners conducting externalized biophysical studies.
- Coordinate timelines, assay execution, data delivery, and troubleshooting with external collaborators.
- Maintain detailed experimental records and perform high‑quality data analysis to drive SAR and support hit‑to‑lead and lead optimization activities.
