The Position
We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love.
A position is available for a postdoctoral fellow to join the Computational Sciences
-Center of Excellence (CS-CoE) organization which uses data, by developing best in class computational methods, and applying them to the most relevant scientific problems across all stages of the pipeline. This position is based within the Pandey Lab in Computational Biology and Medicine/Neuroscience.
The postdoctoral position is focused on applying cutting edge computational methods to understand stromal cells of the brain particularly their pathological role in neuroinflammatory diseases. Spanning single cell transcriptomics, genetics, proteomics, spatial transcriptomics and functional genomics, the postdoctoral fellow will lead large scale integrative analyses to delineate the complex and overlooked role that stromal cells might play in disease pathogenesis. While this position is computational, the project is highly collaborative, involving regular interaction with laboratory colleagues in Neuroscience and Translational Medicine.
TheOpportunity
- Opportunity to work closely with computational colleagues to apply cutting edge computation to impactful scientific problems in neuroscience
- Leverage multimodal high dimensional data - including single cell and spatial transcriptomics, proteomics and genetics - to investigate the role of stromal cells in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration.
- Exploratory research in a fast-paced setting with the potential for real impact on patients
- Technical and scientific mentorship from computational and laboratory colleagues in the development and testing of biological hypotheses
- Present at external scientific conferences and publish scientific insights in high-impact journals
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Neuroscience or related field
- Experience with bulk and/or single-cell omics data analysis (e.g. bulk genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, single-cell RNA-seq, Perturb-seq, spatial transcriptomics )
- Proven ability to bridge bioinformatics and genetics to solve complex problems, ideally within CNS health or disease
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex computational findings to both technical and non-technical audiences; this should be in written and verbal form, as evidenced by first-author publications in high-impact journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
- Independent, highly motivated, and highly collaborative with the ability to work together with multi-disciplinary teams of computational and laboratory biologists
- Passionate about working in a scientific environment, especially one that is related to drug discovery and development
- Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for bridging computation with functional biology.
- Quick learner, are curious about new areas and the opportunity to build expertise, and courageously boldly and creatively take initiative to see your ideas implemented
- Able to perform at a high level in a fast changing and demanding environment
