Job Overview

We are seeking an inspiring and enthusiastic teaching assistant who will join our team of highly motivated teachers, support staff, and leaders, contributing to children’s academic and pastoral development to make a difference to each pupil.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the instruction/guidance of teachers/senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes that enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in managing pupils and the classroom.
  • Support the teacher across the whole planning cycle, including the management and preparation of resources.
  • Occasionally supervise whole classes during short-term absences of teachers, maintaining good order and keeping pupils on task.
  • Work in the classroom or outside the main teaching area as required.
Qualifications
  • Enhanced DBS checks are mandatory for all school staff.
  • Staff must comply with South Tyneside Child Protection Procedures.
  • The position is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a satisfactory Enhanced DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required as part of pre-employment checks.
