We're working with a specialist alternative provision in the South Shields area that is looking for dedicated Pastoral Support Workers to join their supportive team.

Operating across two sites, the provision supports pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. Staff are committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where every pupil can succeed.

We're looking for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

What you'll be doing
  • Providing pastoral support to pupils throughout the school day
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies
  • Building trusted relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education
  • Assisting with behaviour interventions and conflict resolution
  • Supporting attendance, engagement and personal development
  • Working alongside teachers, families and external agencies
What we're looking for
  • A genuine interest in supporting vulnerable young people
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Experience working with children, young people or within a support role
  • A calm and empathetic approach – The ability to build positive professional relationships
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. This advert is for a temporary position; in some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
