English Teacher

Tyne Coast College (via The Supply Register) is seeking a committed and enthusiastic English Lecturer. This contract role is temporary (ongoing) and based at Tyne Coast College campuses.

As an English Lecturer, you will play a key role in supporting learners to develop their English knowledge, confidence, and academic progress. You will deliver engaging lessons that inspire students to achieve their qualifications and progress to further study, apprenticeships, or employment.

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons to learners across a range of programmes and levels.
• Teach GCSE and/or Functional Skills English qualifications.
• Develop engaging and inclusive learning activities that meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Assess student work and provide constructive feedback to support progress and achievement.
• Monitor and track learner performance, attendance, and engagement.
• Identify and implement strategies to support students requiring additional assistance.
• Maintain accurate records in line with college procedures and awarding body requirements.
• Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and support teams to promote positive learner outcomes.
• Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion at all times.

• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent) or a willingness to work towards one.
• A degree in English or a related subject.
• Experience teaching GCSE and/or Functional Skills English, ideally within a Further Education setting.
• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching English.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• The ability to motivate and inspire learners from a variety of backgrounds and abilities.
