We're currently recruiting for a SEND Success Mentor to work within welcoming and supportive Primary Schools, starting in September
.

This rewarding opportunity is ideal for graduates and experienced support staff who are passionate about helping children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) achieve their full potential. As a SEND Success Mentor, you'll play a key role in supporting pupils academically, socially and emotionally, helping them overcome barriers and celebrate success every step of the way.

This role is particularly suited to individuals considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, social work or specialist SEND provision.

Your Main Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

  • Support children with Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH and other additional learning needs.

  • Implement strategies and interventions tailored to individual pupils.

  • Help pupils access learning, engage in classroom activities and achieve personal targets.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and independence.

  • Support social, emotional and communication development.

  • Work closely with class teachers, SENDCOs and external professionals.

  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to school staff.

  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Ideal Background

  • BA Education

  • MA Education

  • MA Education (SEND and Inclusion)

  • Teaching Assistant roles

  • SEND Support roles

Requirements
  • Degree obtained within the last five years or relevant experience supporting children and young people.

  • Professional employment references covering the last two years.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, nurturing and resilient approach.

  • Experience supporting children with SEND is highly desirable.

  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and Speech and Language needs is advantageous.

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
