We’re currently recruiting for a Young Minds Mentor to work within welcoming and supportive Primary Schools, starting in September
.

This rewarding opportunity is ideal for graduates and experienced support staff who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and thrive both academically and emotionally.

As a Young Minds Mentor, you’ll work closely with pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis, supporting their social, emotional and educational development. Every day presents an opportunity to make a lasting impact on a child’s life.

This role is particularly suited to graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, social work, youth work, counselling, speech and language therapy or SEND support.

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

• Build positive and trusting relationships with children to support engagement and wellbeing.

• Help pupils overcome social, emotional and behavioural barriers to learning.

• Support children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.

• Deliver targeted interventions to support academic and personal development.

• Promote confidence, resilience, independence and positive self-esteem.

• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs and pastoral teams.

• Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.

• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

• Degree obtained within the last five years or relevant experience supporting children and young people.

• Professional employment references covering the last two years.

• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals is desirable.

• Understanding of SEND, SEMH, Autism or ADHD is advantageous.

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
