Pay: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience
Protocol Education are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Sports Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school setting in South Shields.
This role would be perfect for someone who has a background in football, rugby, athletics, boxing, fitness, PE, sports coaching or another physical activity and wants to use those skills to make a genuine difference to young people.
The pupils you will be supporting may have SEMH, behavioural or additional needs and can benefit hugely from having a positive, energetic adult around them who understands how to engage them.
The RoleYou will:
- Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
- Build positive and trusting relationships through shared interests.
- Encourage pupils to participate in physical activity and sport.
- Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
- Use sport and physical activity to encourage teamwork and communication.
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
- Support positive behaviour throughout the school day.
- Assist with lessons and small-group activities.
- Encourage pupils to make positive choices.
- Support pupils during break and lunchtime.
- Act as a positive role model for young people.
You could be an experienced TA, sports coach, PE assistant, youth worker or someone with a strong sporting background looking to move into education.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be a bonus

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
